Research is a Life-Skill, Not a Unit of Study – Engaging Students with the Critical Literacy Skills Needed to Evaluate and Use Information for Authentic Reasons.

“Researchers are game-changers, innovators. Research—be it that of scientists, historians, journalists, musicians, architects, artists, doctors, or teachers—is the way we as humans evolve. Literally.” Chris Lehman

This professional development will explore the different ways we can engage students with the real reasons people conduct research while focusing on how to model the process of strategically navigating the massive amounts of information that is now available to all of us.  As we increase our demand for incorporation of effective and relevant evidence and reasoning in student work, we must provide them with authentic models of research to study and emulate, and explore authentic ways students can share what they produce.  This training will include the book Energizing Research Reading and Writing by Chris Lehman
