Completion of this training (45 contact hours, additional 45 hours completed independently) will qualify participant for AZ gifted provisional endorsement.  Individual districts must approve professional development hours per gifted endorsements regulations. This training will focus on best practices in gifted instruction including navigating national gifted standards, social and emotional growth, differentiated instruction, critical thinking, creative thinking and problem solving.

Interactive workshops will provide participants with a knowledge base in gifted education and highly effective, research based strategies for instructing gifted students.  
  • Friday, January 11th, 4:30 - 8:30 pm:  Introduction to Gifted Education
  • Saturday, January 26th,  8:00 am - 5:00 pm:  Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted Students
  • Saturday, February 16th,  8:00 am - 5:00 pm:  Differentiated Instruction and Flexible Grouping
  • Saturday, March 2nd, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm: Critical / Creative Thinking and Questioning
  • Saturday, April 27th,  8:00 am - 5:00 pm:  Inquiry, Project Based Learning and STEM
  • Friday, May 3rd,  4:30 - 8:30 pm: Best Practices in Gifted Instruction
Audience: Certified Teachers, Instructional Coaches and Administrators interested in obtaining a provisional gifted endorsement.  


Date:  Fridays, January 11th and May 3rd, 4:30-8:30 pm   |   Saturdays, January 26th, February 16th, March 2nd, and April 27th,2019  8:00 am - 5:00 pm


Cost: $ 240   Registration fee includes materials and dinner | lunch for six sessions

Facilitators: 

Marianne Landrith is a gifted endorsed certified teacher and Co-Chair for the Gifted Education Program in the Sunnyside Unified School District, and Coordinator of the Javits Grant for Sunnyside and Pima County Schools. Marianne has taught for 34 years in regular and gifted education. She has worked as a Teacher Trainer Mentor, Peer Coach Trainer, Program Facilitator and Career Ladder Peer Evaluator. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and an M.A. in Language, Reading and Culture.


Louise Till is a  coordinator in the gifted education program in Tucson Unified School District. Louise has worked as a classroom teacher, librarian, mentor, coach and professional development facilitator. She is a gifted endorsed certified teacher who has taught kindergarten through college. She has her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Creative Writing and is currently a board member of the Arizona Association of Gifted and Talented (AAGT).
