SESSION FOUR:  The Challenges of "Holding Space"

While we seek to “hold space” for those who are struggling and/or who have experienced trauma, we need to be aware of the load it can create on our own selves.  In this interactive session, we will explore Vicarious Trauma, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue while identifying strategies for Self Care.

Teaching staff will have had time to practice and implement concepts addressed previous sessions.  This session will open with conversation around successes and challenges.  Continuing to scaffold on previous knowledge, participants will continue to practice self-awareness skills and understanding ACES (Adverse Child Responses) with an emphasis on building resilience in students and holding a space of compassion for parents and co-workers
