Interested in developing your media literacy expertise? Join our community of practice!

Media Literacy: Access, Analyze, Create, and Act will provide the opportunity for educators and librarians to work toward Media Literacy Certification through KQED Teach.

In this community of practice model, participants will have the opportunity to attend monthly 30-minute webinars featuring guest speakers as well as monthly office hours for working, planning, and receiving feedback. They will also be provided with time to work on their choice of 8 different learning modules.

Each module requires approximately 10 hours to complete. The modules consist of short reading assignments and explorations, lesson plan development and implementation, and feedback from media literacy experts at KQED. Because these are self-paced modules, participants can choose their pace and their areas of focus in a supportive and collaborative environment.

January 11,25,  February 8, 22,  March 8, 29,  April 12th and 26th 2022

Time: 4:15-6:15pm

Cost:  Free

Facilitator:  Cheryl Gerken

Cheryl Gerken is a former bilingual 4th-grade teacher and K-5 school librarian with 11 years of experience. She currently works for Arizona Public Media as the Educational Outreach Coordinator.
