Inspired by the books The Wild Robot by Peter Brown, House of Robots by James Patterson, and The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess by Tom Gauld, join our Robot Generals, Sherrie Dennis and Michale Griffith, for three days of getting to know the Edison robots and their coding platforms (EdBlocks, EdScratch, and EdPy). Engineer solutions to Roz (Wild Robot) inspired challenges our Robot Generals have dreamed up. Design a useful robot inspired by Mr. Moppenshine, McFetch, and others from House of Robots. Take your Edison on EdVentures left untold by the Wooden Robot and the Log Princess. Starting with a simple bar code scan and progressing through drag-and-drop block Scratch programming, and ending with Python – a legitimate programming language used in the real world, teachers from a wide grade range will experience how they can engage their students with these powerful little robots. Teachers will receive a STEMAZing kit with 12 robots, 6 EdMats, 6 EdCreate kits, rechargeable batteries and more. Everything you need to establish a small army of programmable robots will be included in the STEMAZing kit valued at more than $1000.
NOTE: You are not allowed to attend this strand if you have participated in a three-day STEMAZing Institute Edison strand in the past and/or if you already have 12 or more Edison robots. We hope your robot army continues to grow but want to let other educators take advantage of the same opportunity you had.

This workshop is part of the STEMAZing Institute. The STEMAZing Project’s philosophy on teacher professional development is simple: It must be hands-on and engaging – putting the educators in the seat of the students to experience STEM lessons firsthand. It must provide the educators with the equipment and supplies they need to implement the lessons and activities in their classrooms the next day if they choose. It must be facilitated by master educators who have themselves been in the classroom.
The Pima County School Superintendent's Office and its partners often take photographs and videos during events and workshops as they occur. By registering for this event and/or workshop you are granting permission to use these images to promote our programs in print, on the web, and on social media.
Payments must be received five (5) business days prior to the start of the class. Payments can be in the form of a check, credit card, P-Card, or a school purchase order. Registrations within the five (5) day window must be paid immediately upon registering for the course.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Cancellations must be submitted in writing five (5) business days prior to the start of the class to receive a refund. Cancellations must be emailed to BOTH: email@example.com AND ARfirstname.lastname@example.org. The Pima County School Superintendent's Office may require masks and other safety protocols in response to the state of the COVID pandemic at the time of the event. Anyone not following the protocols will be asked to leave the event and no refund will be issued. The event may also need to be switched to a virtual event based on circumstances at the time.
