Wack-A-Packs, a fantastic phenomenon, can be used as more than just a fun demonstration. Teachers will experience how to turn student-driven questions into science experiments related to the science behind Wack-A-Packs. Educators will leave empowered to bring a little chemistry into the classroom. They will also leave with lots of data collection equipment for their classrooms which will open up the door to further experimentation and exploration related to this phenomenon and many others! Educators will take home a STEMAZing Kit of books/equipment/supplies worth nearly $150 so they can immediately engage their students back in the classroom.

Audience:  Teachers attending the Arizona STEM Adventure with their students from grades 4-8 and other educators who are invited by the organizers.

This is a STEMAZing Workshop. The STEMAZing Project’s philosophy on teacher professional development is simple: It must be hands-on and engaging – putting the educators in the seat of the students to experience STEM lessons firsthand. It must provide the educators with the equipment and supplies they need to implement the lessons and activities in their classrooms the next day if they choose. It must be facilitated by master educators who have themselves been in the classroom.
